To Coast Cintsa

Okay... it's flat now what?
Hiking into Queenstown.
Manual labour.
Setting up camp.

A quick peak at the beach before dinner.

Friday, December 8th.
When we first got here Jay warned us that if it rained hard here we might not be able to climb the steep dirt road back out of the valley. We had heard that they were calling for more rain today as well, so Colin and Jay were anxious for us to get packed up and set off. It was a beautiful sunny morning when we left camp at 7:00 and managed to get up the road without any problem.

We drove for pretty much the whole day. We got a flat tire just outside the town of Jamestown. It was a rear inside tire which would be hard for the guys to change, so because we were so close to town, we all walked in and Colin drove the truck to a garage. Luckily they weren't busy and were able to change the tire, but they did it without any air pressure tools, just a long metal bar and shear strength. All told that took about an hour and a half of our time. We continued on until we got to Queenstown where we did another grocery shop.

Then we drove the rest of the way to Cintsa on the Wildcoast, which is just east of Port Elizabeth. We are staying at the Buccaneers Backpackers Camp. We arrived just about 6:00 and managed to get our tents up before sunset. Then we all walked back up to the reception area to see what activities were available for tomorrow and to have an included Braai dinner. This is a traditional South African bbq. There was a piece of pork, a skewer of chicken meat and a boerewors sausage, with potato salad and a lettuce salad.

After that I typed for a bit before heading off to bed. Back in a tent after a week of cabins.
